Ever wondered what I get up to day to day? Well i'm about to tell you. At least, this is a snap shot of a term time weekday, not during the school holidays when I am fun-employed by my children.
I've built this business so that it operates without me working "in" it during the times I need to be focussed elsewhere so therefore when I am working "in" it, I need to be effective.
The first thing I do is get up! Sounds obvious but I've learnt to leave my phone in our home office over night so that I am forced to get out of bed to switch my alarm off without any debate. There's no snoozing here! It also stops me doom scrolling before I sleep and increases the likelihood of reading a chapter or two of my book before sleep. I'm reading American Dirt at the moment, it's sooooooo good.
If it's a day when Toby (husband) is here, I'll likely manage to get in the bathroom before him but if it's a day when he's off to London, our paths may cross as he leaves and I stagger into the bathroom to hop in the shower. Water wakes me up and I try to run the last 30 seconds to a minute as cold as I can. Then I am very awake and apparently more healthy....the jury is out.
Teeth brushed and flossed (also important so says the dentist) and I get dressed. I'm trying to plait my hair more rather than tying it up as it's getting thinner on the sides (thanks perimenopause) so I'm trying to hold on to as much of it as I can for as long as I can! Also, it's harder to see how grey I am with it plaited. I am trying to be ok with going grey but it does just make me feel old which I am not ready for.
Cripes I'm not even dressed yet and I've written a lot, sorry if you're bored. Once dressed (nothing exciting to note in that department) I go downstairs and make a lemon water. I've stopped drinking coffee quite so early and the shift is helping me stay calm. I have an abundance of natural energy first thing so have learnt I really do not need to super charge myself with caffeine, but enjoy one a bit later in the morning.
I'm going to stop here. Blogging can be a lonely plight. If anyone likes this and wants to know more fun facts about my habits I'll write Chapter 2....
